The Clinical Document Architecture is in its 8th year as an international standardfor the exchange of clinical documents. The first CDA Users Conference in Berlin, 2002, revealed a wide range of application in local, regional and national exchangenetworks in Europe and Asia-Pacific. This year's IHIC presentation will examinethe growth of CDA for clinical information and exchange and the developmentof areas of clinical information reuse in research, public health and qualityreporting. The talk will present findings from “Show Me Your CDA!”, anIHIC project to collect information on CDA implementations around theworld and will give a preview of the direction and timetable anticipated for the CDA Release 3.0.

Show me your CDA!”
HL7 CDA Interoperability Forum

Wednesday October 8, 2008, 09:00 -13:30

Conference Room: KALIA

Summary:

One of the key objectives of the International HL7 Interoperability Conference (IHIC) is sharing HL7 V3 implementation experience from around the world and the HL7 Clinical Document Architecture (CDA) is a foundational component of many of those V3 exchanges. The “Show me your CDA!” project at IHIC2008 provides an opportunity for all members of the HL7 community to show off their accomplishments and even win an award for what they have done. The “Show Me Your CDA!” Interoperatibily Forum will:

  • collect, analyze, and report on CDA implementations from around the world
  • share expertise, tips, and tricks on the current and future uses of CDA
  • benchmark the adoption of CDA worldwide
  • recognize best practices in CDA tools and implementations
  • The “Show Me Your CDA” Interoperability Forum is an opportunity for all members of the HL7 community to show their accomplishments and be recognized for their efforts. Participants will submit information about their CDA implementation through an online data collection tool and will be encouraged to include sample documents, stylesheets and validated schemas. The information will be collated, analyzed and announced at IHIC 2008. After IHIC, the project information will be available on the web, including samples and links and the survey tool will remain active to continue gathering information on CDA implementation. The entries available before IHIC will be evaluated and awards will be presented at the Conference for outstanding examples of tools, sample documents, stylesheets and implementation guides. Who should participate:

  • Providers who produce and/or receive CDA (internal and external exchange)
  • Exchange networks using CDA Vendors with CDA-compliant applications for authoring, management, display, etc
  • Organizations or individuals interested in deploying CDA.
  • Individuals or organizations are encouraged to post sample CDA documents, style sheets and supporting information (metadata) about their projects.
